Abstract

This study aims to design and build a filament maker machine as a processor forpolyethylene therephtalate (PET) plastic bottle waste into a material suitable for3D printing. PET plastic bottle waste is a significant environmental issue due to its slow degradation and potential to pollute the environment. In this research, the filament maker machine is designed to process PET plastic bottles into filaments
that can be used as printing material in 3D printers. The research methodology involves the steps of designing and constructing the filament maker machine, selecting optimal processing parameters, and testing the resulting filament
material. The machine design includes elements such as plastic bottle crushers, dryers, extruders, and filament winders. Processing parameters considered include temperature, extrusion speed, and pressure. The results of this study demonstrate that the filament maker machine successfully transforms PET plastic bottles into filaments with sufficient quality for use in 3D printers. The produced
filament material has been tested in 3D printers and yields prints with adequatestrength and quality. This research contributes to the management of plasticwaste, particularly PET plastic bottles, by transforming them into value-addedmaterials for use in 3D printing technology. The utilization of plastic waste asraw material in 3D printers can also help reduce dependence on new materialsand mitigate the environmental impact of plastic waste. From the conducteddesign, it can be concluded that both the cutter and slider, which have undergoneanalysis and safety factor evaluation, provide sufficient safety for the bottlecutting process.
