Abstract

Plastic waste is a problem currently faced by various countries, and Indonesia is one of them. The use of plastic and plastic-based products is increasing as technology, industry, and population grow. Commonly recycled plastic types include polyethylene (PE), polypropylene (PP), polystyrene (PS), polyethylene terephthalate (PET), and polyvinyl chloride (PVC). Polyethylene terephthalate (PET) plastic is w idely used in bottle industries, such as bottled water or beverage containers. Dealing with plastic waste is known as the 3R approach (Reuse, Reduce, Recycle). Reuse involves repeatedly using plastic items. Reduce means
decreasing the purchase or use of plastic items, especially single-use ones. Recycle is the process of reprocessing plastic items. Some advantages of PET plastic are its recyclability into various economically valuable products like filament, toys, furniture, and souvenirs. This study aims to investigate the influence of plastic bottle size and motor speed on the extrusion outcomes of Polyethylene terephthalate (PET) material in a filament maker machine for 3D printers. The filament maker machine is designed to process PET plastic bottles into filaments suitable for 3D
printing applications. The research method involves two main factors: plastic bottle size and motor speed. Different plastic bottle sizes are considered to evaluate their impact on the extrusion process. Additionally, motor speed is varied to analyze its effects on filament extrusion quality and consistency. In this study, a 3D printer filament maker machine was developed to extrude PET plastic bottle waste into 3D printer filaments with a diameter of 1.5mm, which can be used on a 3D printer. The optimal speed used was achieved at a potentiometer input of 99%, with motor
rotation speeds 30.2 RPM. The number of bottles that can be recycled to produce one kilogram of filament is as follows: 100 bottles of 600ml Aqua bottles, 63 bottles of 1500ml Aqua bottles, 143 bottles of 550ml Vit bottles, and 83 bottles of 1500ml Vit bottles.
