Abstract
Potentially Inmaproppiate Alodications (PIMs) in the elderly, with a global prevalence of 6-41%, is a seriones concern. Previous studies have reported that 63.1% of geriatric patients experience PIMs based on the beers criteria 2023. PIMs pose a health risk to the elderly due to age-related physiological changes Beers Criteria was released by the American Geriatrics Society (AGS) as o guide to prescribing medications in the elderly. The purpose of this study was to assess the number of prescriptions detected as PIMs in geriatric patients and to analyze whether there is a significant relationship berween polypharmacy status and comorbidities of geriatric patients with the incidence of PIMs prescription. This study was conducted at RSKO Jakarta because there were no previous studies on geriatric patients at RSKO Jakarta. The research method used was a retrospective data collection method and was analyzed statistically using spss with the chi-square test method. The study results stated that 53.64% of geriatric patient prescriptions at RSKO Jakarta were detected as PIMs, with 11.54% in the "avoid" category and 88.46% in the "avoid with caution" category. The results of the chi-square analysis showed a significant relationship between polypharmacy (p=0.000) and comorbidities (p=0.027) with PIMs.
