Abstract

The management of narcotic and psychotropic drugs requires strict supervision, particularly during the distribution and storage stages, due to their addictive nature and high potential for abuse. This study aimed to evaluate the compliance of distribution and storage practices for narcotic and psychotropic drugs in Pharmacy Installations in West Java, as well as to assess pharmacists' level of knowledge regarding these aspects and examine the relationship with pharmacists' demographic characteristics. The study was conducted from February to July 2025 using a descriptive method through direct observation in pharmacy installations in West Java and questionnaire distribution to 109 pharmacists in Bekasi Regency. Observation results showed that the compliance level for narcotic and psychotropic drug storage reached 95% (good category), narcotic drug distribution reached 95% (good category), and psychotropic drug distribution reached 100% (very good category). Questionnaire assessments indicated that most pharmacists (95.4%) had a good level of knowledge. Chi-square analysis revealed a significant relationship between years of work experience and knowledge level (p < 0.05). These findings confirm that the management of narcotic and psychotropic drugs in Pharmacy Installations in West Java complies with current regulations. Furthermore, the results indicate that work experience contributes to improving pharmacists' understanding of regulations and best practices in safe and standardized drug management. Keywords: distribution, narcotics, psychotropics, storage, knowledge
