Abstract
Chicken farmers are now starting businesses on both small and large scales to support their economy, one of which is egg incubation. In the Kawi Kawi Atas area of Central Jakarta, farmers still rely on hens for egg incubation, which often faces inefficiency and ineffectiveness issues. This study aims to implement an
automatic egg incubator based on the Internet of Things (IoT) for poultry farmers.
The system uses a DHT11 sensor to measure temperature and humidity, a servo motor to rotate the egg rack every three hours, and a NodeMCU ESP8266 as the microcontroller and IoT communication module via a web server in real-time.
Testing of the DHT11 sensor against a measuring instrument resulted in a temperature error of 3.16°C and a humidity error of 3.96%, with a web server data transmission delay of 13.6 seconds for temperature and 14 seconds for humidity.
Experiments with 18 kampung chicken eggs, incubated at a temperature range of
37°C-39°C and humidity of 50%-65% for 21 days, achieved a success rate of 77.7%
and a failure rate of 22.3%. With the presecence of this egg incubator, poultry farmers benefit by minimizing hatching failure, producing a large number of chicks simultaneously, and being able to monitor conditions at any time through a web- based system that display temperature and humadity data records.
