Abstract
The proliferation of unlicensed alcoholic beverages in Indonesia has been exacerbated by the extensive distribution of publicly available alcoholic beverages. The responsibility for addressing sellers who lack a license is typically assigned to the judicial system. Alcoholic beverages are composed of ethanol and have the potential to induce a state of unconsciousness. Based on the provisions outlined in Article 2 of the Permendag RI No. 20/M-DAG/PER/4/2014, alcoholic beverages are categorized into three distinct groups, each distinguished by their respective alcohol content. Group A encompasses beverages with an alcohol content ranging from 1 to 5 percent, while group B comprises those with an alcohol level between 5 and 20 percent. Lastly, group C encompasses alcoholic beverages with an alcohol content falling within the range of 20 to 55 percent. A prototype Electronic Nose System was developed to detect alcohol levels in Internet of Things (IoT) based drinks, with the aim of facilitating the monitoring of alcoholic beverage circulation in the community, given its integration with smartphones. The initial prototype was developed utilizing the Gravity Alcohol Sensor, whereas the subsequent prototype was constructed using the TGS 822 Sensor. The initial electronic olfactory device equipped with a gravity alcohol sensor exhibited the greatest margin of error, amounting to 1.07%. Conversely, the largest level of error, reaching 5.81%, was observed in the measurements conducted utilizing the TGS 822 sensor. Hence,
determining the sensitivity level of the sensor in detecting airborne alcohol is
optimal.
