Abstract
Renewable energy has become a key topic in efforts to reduce reliance on fossil fuels and mitigate the environmental impact of energy consumption. One of the technologies to be used in this research is the piezoelectric energy harvester implemented on speed bumps. Piezoelectric materials can generate electricity when subjected to mechanical pressure or strain, such as the pressure from motor vehicles and cars passing over speed bumps. This research aims to analyze the
circuit and assess the impact of adding more piezoelectric elements in each test
conducted. The study uses a quantitative method as it involves experimental research with direct experimentation and includes numerous calculations from the
results of testing the piezoelectric speed bumps. The generated energy can be utilized for lighting at the security posts of Jakarta Global University. From the
tests, the highest voltage obtained from a simple parallel circuit with 5
piezoelectrics was 35mV, with a peak current of 0.22mA. In a series circuit, the
generated voltage was 127mV with a current of 0.14mA. The highest voltage in a
combined circuit configuration, consisting of 4 parallel and 4 series circuits, was
98mV with a peak current of 0.20mA from the 4 series and 4 parallel circuits. From
the test results using the pressure of a 3-lane speed bump, the highest voltage was
obtained at 0.419mV and a current of 0.51mA, while the highest voltage and current
produced from the results of the 3-lane speed bump experiment using the pressure
of a car were 1.151mV and 0.92mA. After using a boost converter on the energy harvester, there was a surge in both voltage and current; the voltage remained stable, unlike the current, which increased significantly compared to previous experiments, reaching 1.446mA with a boost percentage of 57.17%.
