Abstract

Wind is a mass of air that moves from an area of maximum pressure to an area of minimum pressure. One use of wind energy is Wind Turbines. The basic working principle of a wind turbine is to convert the mechanical energy of the wind into rotational energy on the windmill, then the rotation of the windmill is used to rotate the generator, which will eventually produce electricity. The reason researchers conducted the research was because there was a 3rd floor room (access to the rooftop) that was not accommodated by lamp lighting access, so the researchers wanted to utilize the use of wind turbines as an alternative energy source for lighting the place, because wind resources are easily available and unlimited, by installing a wind turbine at a building height of about 30 meters and a tool height dimension of 2.35 meters to get wind gusts.
This study aims to create electricity generation using wind turbines and create a distribution system from the voltage generated by the wind turbine to 220 V AC voltage to turn on street lights. The research method uses research and development methods and prototype methods for system development. The results of the study created an electricity generation system using turbines and a distribution system to turn on lighting. The test results of the system can produce DC voltage which is then stored in an accumulator as a voltage source for lighting through a DC to AC voltage converter. From this research, afternoon is an efficient time to get optimal wind with a speed of 2.1 m/s-4.1 m/s with an average voltage of 13.51 Volts-22.57 Volts.
