Abstract
Mountain climbing carries high risks, especially in areas without cellular signals. To enhance climber safety, this study designs a monitoring system based on LoRa and Geofencing, which provides notifications for hazardous zones and enables emergency communication. The system utilizes a Beitian BN-220 GPS module to read coordinates, which are then processed by the Heltec LoRa 32 V3 and transmitted via the LoRa network to the cloud for real-time display on Telegram. The results show that LoRa signal quality decreases with increasing distance and altitude, with the best performance observed in Red Zone and SOS- activated conditions. The Geofencing system accurately determines location, while emergency signal transmission remains reliable through a buzzer and Telegram. Testing also confirms that the system has low delay and minimal packet loss, making it effective for climber monitoring and emergency communication.
