Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM), one of the most common metabolic disorders, is caused by a combination of two primary factors: defective insulin secretion by pancreatic β-cells and the inability of insulin-sensitive tissues to respond appropriately to insulin. This condition can lead blockage of blood vessels so cells deprived of oxygen and damage to tissue death. In the treatment of T2DM, antibiotics are needed. The rational use of antibiotics is needed to reduce disease severity, medical costs and length of treatment for T2DM sufferers. The aim of this study was to know profile and evaluate the use of antibiotic in patient with T2DM, in RSUP Fatmawati July-December 2021 period, also to know the use of third line antibiotic in accordance of Pedoman Penggunaan Antibiotik (PPAB) in RSUP Fatmawati. The descriptive study retrospective non-experimental approach. The samples obtained are 52 medical records that meet the inclusion criteria. The results showed patients with antibiotics treatment at most at the age of 55-64 (38.5%), female (52%), and diabetic foot complication (40.6%) is the most infection complication in T2DM. The most single and combination antibiotic frequently used was ceftriaxone (30.3%) and ampicillin sulbactam + metronidazole (29.2%). The evaluation results statutes antibiotic use is the right patient (98%), appropriate indication (100%), the right dose (100%), the exact time interval (96%), and the exact duration of administration (86.5%). Use of third line antibiotic in accordance of PPAB RSUP Fatmawati (75%).
