Abstract

Hand washing is one of the most important activities in an effort to keep the body from disease, especially infections caused by microorganisms or viruses.The current condition of the COVID-19 pandemic has made the use of hand antiseptics increase, natural materials need to be developed because they are relatively cheaper, safe, effective, and easy to obtain. Pumpkin is a plant that contains various active substances that have a high level of safety for the skin,
namely saponins, flavonoids. The method used in this research is using the maceration method. The formulation of the hand sanitizer preparation is made into 6 formulas, which use the active substance of pumpkin (cucurbita moschata). 5% formula, 8% formula. Formula 12%, formula 15% and 20% hand sanitizer gel. The evaluations carried out in the research on the gel were organoleptic test,homogeneity test, irritation, and pH test. Results and research obtained from hand sanitizer gel pumpkin (cucurbita moschata). The best concentration of bacterial inhibitors was found at a concentration of 20%. Homogeneity, Stable at room temperature, meets skin pH standards and is non-irritating
