Abstract

Welding techniques have been used extensively in joining metals to hot media. The heat source used comes from an electric arc, axy-acetylene flame and friction Friction welding is a type of solid state welding method, where heat is generated by two metals rubbing together so that the metal melts and then freezes together to become a welded joint. This study discusses friction welding to determine the difference in forging pressure in welding aluminum 6061 with copper. Purpose: The purpose of this study was to determine: tensile test and hardness test (Vickers) and microstructure. Research Methodology: The methodology used in this research uses research objects, data collection methods, data analysis and problem solving frameworks. The parameters used in this study are friction pressure (Pf). friction time (tf). Forging Pressure (Pu), Forging Time (tu) and rotational speed (5). Research Results: Analysis of the results of the tensile text, hardness test, and microstructural test of the results of fiction welding of Aluminum 6061 and Copper: the greater the forging pressure, the greater the hardness value. The strength values also vary from the lowest to the highest, and in the microstructural test it can be concluded that the greater the forging pressure, the stronger the resulting welded joint will be. Conclusion: the greater the forging pressure, the greater the value of the tensile test and hardness test. As well as the stronger the resulting microstructure.

Keywords: Friction Welding, Aluminum, Copper. Tensile Test and Hardness Test.
