Abstract
Soil moisture and soil temperature are the most important soil characteristics. In this research, a tool for monitoring soil moisture and soil temperature will be created to observe the growth of red shoot plants. Optimal soil moisture for red shoot growth is 20%-30%, optimal soil temperature for red shoot growth is 24-36°C. Humidity measurements were carried out using the Soil Moisture YL-69 and Capacitive Soil Moisture sensors, while the soil temperature used the DS18B20 sensor. The test results of the soil moisture and temperature monitoring tool showed good measurement results. The error value for measuring soil moisture is still below 3% and the error value for soil temperature is below 2.5%. During the 3 days of research, the water pump functioned well in maintaining the stability of soil moisture and soil temperature. Measurement results can be monitored with the ThingSpeak application which can be viewed via the user's personal computer or cellphone.
