Abstract

Lubricants are an important role in a machine or vehicle that cannot be separated, in general the function of a lubricant is to prevent wear and friction. Meanwhile other functions are cooling, vibration dampening and transporting dirt to the combustion chamber to protect the engine from corrosion. The lubricating oil consists of 70% to 90% of the mixture is basic lubricating oil and is added with additional ingredients containing additives, this results in the use of mineral oil and synthetic oil increasing, so that pollution to the environment will continue in connection with the nature of mineral oil and Synthetic oil is toxic to the environment. Biolubricantsis a lubricant based on vegetable or animal oils, biolubricantshas environmentally friendly properties including more than 98% biodegradable in soil, unlike some synthetic and mineral lubricants which can be decomposed 20% to 40%. In this researchbiolubricantsused are soybean oil and olive oil, Viscosity test of soybean oil and olive oil mixed with 5W/30 Synthetic Oil using a laboratory test, for Density testing in this study using a pycnometer test, from the tests carried out (1) the Viscosity value The highest was found in pure synthetic oil samples with a value of 50,707 cSt. (2) the highest density value is found in pure olive oil samples with a value of0.938gr/ml. performance tested using temperature test and friction test, the results of this study are the highest temperature in a mixture of synthetic oil and soybean oil (OS40K60) with a value of 47.2°C and for the lowest temperature in a mixture of synthetic oil and olive oil (OS40Z60) with a value of 36.0 °C.
