Abstract

Enhacement use of inductive equipment such as the use of motors, transformers, in
general the power factor of the PLN system will decrease, for this it is necessary to compensate by using capacitors. Power Quality in this thesis is about the impact of
using capacitors in a 20 kV system to reduce reactive energy so that the power factor
gets better. In the system current conditions 20 kV-20 MVAR capacitors are installed with a system of 4 blocks (50 MVAR each) with a three-phase power factor sensor. This system is planned to be developed into 12 blocks with sensors
in each phase. The results of the linear load simulation of a 12-step system can increase the power factor and reduce the active power by 4.75 kW from the
conventional system at unbalanced load (R123:1002, L1:50 mH, L2:20 mH,
L3:500 mH). Whereas in the non-linear load system simulation, the 12-step system
with 3AC/IDC converter has the highest power factor and the lowest output voltage
ripple compared to conventional systems, while for the harmonic level of the input
current (THD), the difference in the average value is 30.813926. % compared to
the conventional system of 30.814122%, the 4 Step system of 30.814115%.
