Abstract

Increased LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) demand and the addition of a new platform jacket in the Caspian Sea require facilities for accommodating and loading LNG. Liquid Berth II is one of the liquid bulk terminal docks planned to handle LNG supply from the Caspian Sea, Turkmenistan. The purpose of this study is to design a robust structure to handle the loads during LNG loading and unloading, as well as other potential structural stresses. This research was conducted by gathering data on the ships to be serviced, wave and current characteristics in the Caspian Seasfina and relevant technical requirements. The collected data was utilized for pler structure planning, which includes material selection, structural dimensions, and required strengths. The planning methods employed involve load calculations and structural analysis using Staadpro Vai SS6 software, following the BS 5950 standard code. The modeling results include a unity check ratio (UCR), structural deflection, internal forces, and reactions of the structural elements of the pier. The UCR value for the liquid hulk pier structure is planned to range from 0.7 to 1.0, and the deflection on the piles and beams should not exceed the pennissible limits. The outcome of this study led to the design of jetty-lype pier structures, consisting of four dolphin breasting points, two mooring dolphins, one trestle, and one jerry bead platform. These structures meet the capacity requirements of 13,470 DWT and are suitable for the environmental conditions in the Caspian Sea, Turkmenistan. This plan is expected to provide clear guidance for all parties involved in constructing a safe, efficient, and reliable pier for LNG loading and unloading in the region.
