Abstract

This study aims to determine some of the physical and chemical properties of charcoal briquettes from the use of bintaro fuit and guava tree trunks as raw materials for making charcoal briquettes. Therefore the purpose of this study was to determine the potential of bintaro fruit and guava tree trunks for the manufacture of charcoal briquettes as an alternative fuel and to determine the physical and chemical properties of the resulting briquettes so that their quality as fuel or energy is known compared to briquettes consumer in the market. Researchers hope that the result of this study can provide new information to ensure the use of bintaro fuit and guava tree stems as raw materials for making charcoal briquettes.
This research was carried out for three mounts the location for collecting raw materials was in Kampung Tambun Gg. Gabus Desa Buni Bakti Kecamatan Babelan Kabupaten Bekasi, West Java. The research process was carried out by starting with the preparation of raw materials to become charcoal, then the charcoal was crushed and mixed with adhesive (tapioca), then printing and drying. then the briquettes go through the testing phase, namely density, burning rate, and
ash content.
The result of observations and research show that the charcoal briquettes of bintaro fruit and guava tree drunks are known to have the highest density level of 0.77 gram/cm3. The lowest burning rate value is 0.20 gram/menute. The lowest ash content value is 25%.
Keywords: Briquettes, raw materials, testing.
