Abstract

Welding technique is a process of joining two metal materials or by melting some of the metal. Welding cannot be separated in the metal joining process because welding hax a very important function in the automotive component design industry. Because this welding has advantages over other joining methods. The welding method has the advantages of being strong and effective. GMAW welding method is a metal joining process with a melting process with the addition of coiled wire which can be adjusted according to the needs and conditions and is driven by an electric motor. This study discusses welding using the Gas Metal Arc Welding method to determine the mechanical properties of welding using the Gmaw method on STKM13B pipe materials and SPH440 plates. The methods used for testing are macro photo test and tensile test. In this test, the value of the result of the deepest penetration was found in specimen No. 8 with a value of 1.86mm with the welding parameter Ampere 150/20 Volt. And for the tensile test results with the highest value found in specimen no 7 with a value of 40005.7 Newton with the Amperex parameter of 150/18 Volts.
