Abstract

Energy needs in Indonesia are very large in line with increasing technological developments for both consumption and production activities. One way to save energy is to make alternative energy, namely biomass energy. Biomass energy is energy made from organic materials such as wood, plants, fruit, seeds- grains. Briqueties are a form of biomass energy made from wood dust and coconut shells which can be used as a substitute for fuel oil. Many charcoal briquettes are made using manual or mechanical systems which result in imperfect pressing of the briquettes, because the pressure applied is different from one another. The purpose of this research is to design and manufacture a briquette press machine made from guava wood with a pneumatic drive system. Making it includes several processes. namely working drawings, cutting materials, assembling the pressing system, testing the press machine to find out the results of making the machine. This design method includes literature review, analysis of pressing requirements, pneumatic press design concepts. The results of the design of a briquette press machine made from guana wood are able to withstand a pressure load of 200 N so that the machine can work optimally. The design uses aluminum profile material because it has the advantage of a strong frame, easy to install and not easy to rust. The stress analysis simulation on the aluminum frame has a maximum stress of 1.73 N/m 2 (mpa), the simulation of the displacement of the aluminum frame has a maximum change of 0.025 MM. and the simulation results of the factory sofery factor on the aluminum frame are 3.1. Therefore, an aliuminum profile frame wat chosen as the frame for the charcoal briquette press machine made from garva wood.
