Abstract
This research focuses on the analysis and optimal design of blades for plastic shredding machines, including manufacturing process optimization and crushing performance evaluation. This study has three main objectives: firstly, to determine the stress and strain values of the blade material to assess deformation and deflection under applied loads; secondly, to evaluate the deformation of the structural steel blade material through simulations under loading conditions; and finally, to identify the optimal blade shape for producing plastic flakes that hold economic value for recycling processes. The research methodology involves establishing blade criteria, design, analysis using Ansys software, as well as blade manufacturing tool/material preparation, laser cutting parameter setup, and crushing process evaluation. Simulation results reveal that blades with an inner radius of R8 exhibit minimal values for equivalent stress (von Mises), equivalent plastic strain, and total deformation, whereas blades with an R16 radius have the highest values for these parameters. This study enhances the blade design for plastic shredding machines and provides reference for the development of better shredding machines in the future.
